Much of the attraction is far simpler: the Red Sea on your doorstep, space around you and the ability to get outside almost every day of the year.
We spend a lot of time photographing villas and apartments for sale, but these photographs and the short video on this page are different. They are simply moments from everyday life around Somabay. No renders, no developer photography and no attempt to make the place look like something it isn’t.
Life in Somabay Starts Outdoors
One of the biggest differences about life in Somabay compared with simply coming here for a holiday and coming for a week’s holiday is that the resort becomes part of your normal routine. A walk along the beach isn’t an excursion. Neither is getting on a bicycle and riding beside the Red Sea. They’re just things you can do because they’re outside the door.
That outdoor lifestyle is a big part of why Somabay works as somewhere to own rather than simply somewhere to visit. Golf, diving, kitesurfing, swimming and cycling are available, but you don’t have to be particularly sporty to appreciate the place. Sometimes it is simply about having room to walk, sit by the water or spend an hour outside without organising anything.

There are parts of Egypt’s Red Sea coast where development has become very dense. Somabay still feels different. The peninsula has substantial stretches of open coastline, and there are mornings when the beach can feel remarkably quiet.
For us, this quieter side of life in Somabay is part of the appeal. The mountains across the water, the shallow shoreline and the changing colour of the sea are things a sales brochure can show, but living with them is different. They become the background to ordinary days rather than something you have travelled to see.
A Resort That Is Becoming a Residential Community
Somabay continues to grow, and that is increasingly visible in the residential areas around the peninsula. New villas, apartments, landscaping and infrastructure are changing parts of the resort that only a few years ago looked very different.
For buyers, this matters because Somabay is no longer just about choosing a hotel for a holiday. There is a growing community of owners who use their homes for weekends, winters, extended stays and, in some cases, as a genuine base on the Red Sea.
